My Milk Bath Soaks are intentionally crafted with a lighter, softer aroma than many commercial bath products. To protect the purity of your skin and your bathing water, I never use synthetic fragrance oils, and these specific blends are completely essential oil free. If you are accustomed to heavily fragranced products that artificially fill an entire room, you will find that my soaks offer a much gentler, understated experience.

How To Use

Fill your tub at least halfway with warm water. I personally wait until the tub is full and I'm ready to get in, then I add the blend so I get a little more of the scent before it begins to evaporate.

Add your desired amount of milk bath directly to the tub. I personally get 2 uses out of the larger bottle and 1 use out of the smaller bottle. You really don't need a large amount to get the benefits of the creamy milks and clays. Swirl the water gently with your hand to help the powders dissolve completely.

If you don't like the botanicals floating in the tub, place your portion inside the included cotton muslin bag to keep them contained. The milks and clays will dissolve completely through the cloth while keeping the flowers safely inside. Allow the bag to float freely in the bath or hang it over the tub spout while warm water runs through it. Gently squeeze the bag occasionally to help release the botanical infusion. Relax and soak for 15–30 minutes.

Because these milk baths are packed with nutrient dense goat milk, buttermilk, and clays, the ultra-fine powders completely coat the whole botanicals inside the bottle, but rest assured, you are still getting a heavy dose of healing botanicals in every single bath!

Empty and rinse the cotton muslin bag, then hang to air dry. It's reusable.

Storage

Store in a cool, dry location away from moisture. Keep tightly closed between uses. Because these products contain natural milk powders, grains, and clays, some settling or hardening may occur if exposed to bathroom humidity. Simply shake or tap the container gently before use.

🐓 Who’s Mama Red?

Hi, I’m Tameron and most people know me as Mama Red. I own and run Bella Mia Farmstead (and Bella Mia Botanicals), a small, one woman farm in rural Western New York.

I raise and breed chickens, tend my gardens, and live a homestead life alongside my dogs, cats, chickens, ducks, turkeys, and quail. For my boring day job, I’m a web developer and designer, which is why my little farm happens to have a pretty website.

Bella Mia Botanicals began in much the same way many good things do, through curiosity, a love of herbs, and a desire to create products with ingredients I felt good about using for myself and my family.

Like many others, I started paying closer attention to ingredient labels. The more I researched, the more surprised I became by how many products we use every day that contain long lists of ingredients I couldn't pronounce, didn't recognize, or simply didn't feel comfortable using anymore. That realization sparked a personal mission to replace as many of those products as possible with simpler, more natural alternatives made from ingredients I could identify, understand, and trust.

What started as a personal journey into herbs, homesteading, gardening, and natural living slowly grew into a collection of handcrafted products made with care, intention, and a healthy appreciation for the beauty of simple ingredients.

How often can I use these milk bath soaks?

For general skin hydration and softening, I recommend soaking 1 to 3 times per week. Because my multi-milk and clay base is incredibly rich and conditioning, it acts like a full body lotion treatment right in your bathtub, making it perfect for regular self care.

Will the flower petals clog my bathtub drain?

To protect your plumbing, I highly recommend using a standard drain strainer or mesh hair catcher to catch the loose petals as the tub drains. Alternatively, you can scoop the floating petals out with a small cup before pulling the drain plug. Tip: If you prefer a completely mess-free clean-up, you can place your milk bath mixture inside the free reusable cotton muslin bag I include with every order before dropping it into the water! The milks and clays will dissolve completely through the cloth while keeping the flowers contained.

What is the shelf life of the milk baths?

Because my blends feature real, dehydrated milk powders and dried botanicals, they are best enjoyed within 6 to 9 months of purchase. To maximize freshness and prevent clumping, store your container in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight, and always keep the lid tightly sealed between uses to prevent bathroom moisture from sneaking in.

Are these safe for sensitive skin?

Yes! My eight-milk, grain, and clay base along with my botanical selections are explicitly chosen for their skin soothing and deeply conditioning properties, making them wonderful for dry or sensitive skin. However, because everyone’s skin is unique and because these blends contain real dairy, oat, and plant extracts, I always recommend doing a quick patch test on your forearm or consulting your doctor if you have severe skin conditions or specific allergen concerns.

Are the milk baths and salt soaks safe for children?

Because my milk baths and salt soaks are free from concentrated essential oils, they are much gentler for families! The milk baths are packed with skin-soothing oats and milks that are wonderful for comforting dry or irritated skin. However, because the products contain real dairy, oats, coconut, and botanical plant extracts, I always recommend reviewing the ingredient list for potential food allergies and doing a quick patch test on your child's forearm. For mineral salt soaks, I recommend keeping baths brief and consulting your pediatrician for children under 1 year of age.

Can I use these if I am pregnant or nursing?

While milk baths are incredibly relaxing and wonderful for soothing stretching skin during pregnancy, certain concentrated botanicals and warm temperatures require a quick check-in with your healthcare provider. I always recommend consulting your doctor before introducing new bath rituals while pregnant or nursing.

What does "Plant-Derived Scent" mean?

I care deeply about what goes onto your skin. I strictly avoid synthetic fragrance oils and artificial perfumes. My scents in all of my products come exclusively from pure essential oils, absolutes, and natural plant extracts, or the natural fragrance from the botanicals themselves, giving you a clean, aromatherapeutic experience free from harsh chemicals.

Will these stain my tub or leave rings?

My milk baths won't permanently stain your bathtub. Because they function similarly to an herbal tea bath mixed with natural clays, the pigments from the flowers and the fine kaolin clay may leave a light botanical ring or a faint powdery residue behind. Don't worry, this is completely normal for real, plant-based products and contains zero artificial dyes. Any remaining residue can be easily rinsed away with warm water right after your bath, or wiped clean with a little soap, warm water, and a soft cloth.

Should I rinse off after taking a milk bath?

It is entirely up to your personal preference! To get the maximum benefit from the lactic acid and conditioning fats, many prefer to simply pat dry with a warm towel and lock in the moisture with a lotion. However, if your blend contains darker botanicals (like black tea or berries) or you prefer a completely clean feeling, a quick 30-second warm water rinse before stepping out of the tub is perfectly fine.

Why do the milk baths cost more than the salt soaks but they weigh less?

My Milk Baths contain a higher percentage of specialty ingredients such as goat milk, buttermilk, coconut milk, oat milk, colloidal oatmeal, rice flour, arrowroot powder, kaolin clay, herbs, flowers, and botanicals. These ingredients are significantly more expensive than mineral salts and make up the majority of each blend.

While the Milk Baths weigh less, they are more concentrated and in short, you're paying for the ingredients, not just the weight.

If you're wondering why some of my product photos look more "real life" than magazine cover, there's a good reason for that. My photography skills are terrible. I'm great at digital design and a lot of other things, but photography, unfortunately is not one of them. Haha!

Bella Mia Botanicals is a very small business, and most product photos are taken by me right here at home between making products, feeding animals, gardening, chasing chickens, and trying to remember what I walked into the room for.

Professional photography is still on my "someday" list. For now, I do my best with the camera on my phone, questionable lighting, and a workroom that seems determined to make every photo look yellow and darker than it actually is. I can make some breathtaking photos in my graphics design software and even with AI but I don't want to alter my photos. I want to stay true to what they are.

The good news? What you see is the real product you'll receive, no stock photos, no heavily altered images, and no surprises when your package arrives. And I can assure you they all look way more beautiful in person than they do in my amateur photos.
