3. Hen’s Choice / Box of Jewels Assortments
“Hen’s Choice” or “Box of Jewels” assortments are selected by Bella Mia.
Breed, egg color, markings, and hatch outcomes are not guaranteed. Requests for specific breeds or colors cannot be accommodated.
These assortments are intended for buyers who enjoy variety and surprise.
4. Pickup & Shipping
- Local pickup is preferred and scheduled by appointment.
- Limited egg shipping may be available within New York State when applicable.
- Once birds or eggs leave our care, full responsibility transfers to the buyer.
Shipping live animals may be limited or unavailable depending on conditions.
5. Health at Time of Sale
All birds are represented as healthy and thriving at the time of sale.
Buyers are responsible for inspecting birds at pickup and confirming satisfaction with their condition.
No health guarantees are made after transfer, as we cannot control environmental conditions, stress, handling, biosecurity, or care practices once birds leave our farm.
We will never knowingly sell sick, injured, or unhealthy birds.
6. No Returns / No Refunds / No Guarantees
Live poultry and egg sales are final.
Due to biosecurity, animal welfare, and environmental variables beyond our control:
- No returns
- No refunds
- No replacements
- No buy-backs (including roosters)
We cannot accept birds back under any circumstances. This protects the health and safety of our flock.
Loss, illness, stress-related decline, injury, or death after transfer are the buyer’s responsibility.
7. Hatch Rate Disclaimer
Hatch success is influenced by:
- Shipping and handling
- Incubator calibration and humidity control
- Temperature fluctuations
- Power interruptions
- Egg handling before and after setting
- Individual breeder experience
- Environmental factors
For these reasons, hatch rates are not guaranteed, especially for shipped eggs.
Eggs are packed carefully; however, internal damage may occur during transit even if shells appear intact.
Poor hatch rates do not qualify for refunds.
In rare cases of zero development, issues may be reviewed case-by-case if eggs are available. If replacement eggs are offered, the buyer is responsible for shipping and handling costs.
Incubation advice may be offered as a courtesy only.
8. Straight Run / Males / Roosters
Most chicks are sold straight run (unsexed) unless otherwise stated.
Gender is not guaranteed unless specifically agreed upon in writing prior to purchase.
When purchasing straight run chicks, you assume approximately a 50% chance of males.
We do not replace or refund birds due to unwanted gender outcomes.
Due to biosecurity and flock health, we do not accept returned roosters or unwanted males.
Buyers are responsible for having a plan for potential roosters before purchasing.
9. Point of Lay & Egg Production
Point of lay birds are approaching laying age and are not guaranteed to be actively laying at time of sale.
We do not guarantee:
- When laying will begin
- Frequency of laying
- Egg production levels
Egg production is affected by breed, age, season, stress, nutrition, and environment.
10. Biosecurity
Bella Mia Farmstead maintains strict biosecurity practices.
- Farm walkthroughs are not permitted unless arranged in advance.
- Pickup may be driveway-only or at a designated meeting location.
- Visitors must respect biosecurity measures.
Clothing, shoes, and equipment can carry disease. These policies are in place to protect all flocks — yours and ours.
11. Reviews & Communication
Reviews should reflect the condition of chicks, poultry, or eggs at time of pickup or within 24 hours of delivery.
If eggs arrive visibly damaged, photos must be taken immediately and provided as soon as possible.
We encourage open communication prior to purchase to ensure expectations are clear.
12. Right to Refuse or Cancel
Bella Mia Farmstead reserves the right to delay, refuse, or cancel any sale due to:
- Weather conditions
- Flock health concerns
- Laying interruptions
- Safety concerns
- Biosecurity risks
Prices and availability are subject to change without notice.
Placing an order confirms acceptance of this policy.
