These are chicken safe herbs that we have found to be commonly listed as safe and beneficial for chickens and poultry in general (we believe these to be safe for turkeys, quail and guinea fowl as well but please research and confirm before feeding to them). Many of these herbs may be harvested and used as nesting box herbs.

Herbs are very healthy, beneficial and useful for chickens and poultry. Herbs are packed full of minerals, vitamins, nutrients and antioxidants. They’re very easy to grow and can bring health benefits, variety and add balance to your chickens diet. They are also wonderful to use in their nesting boxes, coops and runs and can be added to their feed. They also offer solutions for some minor poultry ailments, help prevent and alleviate some conditions, repel insects, fleas and mites, enrich egg color and strength and boost their immune systems. You can provide enrichment for your flock as well with all of the different textures and tastes that herbs can provide.

Use herbs in small amounts and introduce new ones slowly to your chickens to keep them from having any stomach upset. We encourage you to thoroughly research all herbs before feeding or using for your chickens or poultry. If you feel your chicken may be ill or sick, please seek veterinary care.
