How To Use Solid Dish Soap

Wet your sponge, dish brush, or washcloth thoroughly with warm water.

Rub the damp sponge directly over the top of the solid soap puck in a circular motion to build up a rich, thick lather.

Wash your dishes, pots, and pans as usual. Re-rub on the bar as needed for exceptionally greasy loads!

Rinse dishes thoroughly with warm water.

To extend the life of your bar: Allow the soap puck to dry completely between uses by keeping it on a draining soap dish or a soap saver pad away from standing water. Do not leave it laying on or in a wet sink.

Storage & Shelf Life

Store unused bars in a cool, dark, and dry place. For the best scent and lather experience, use within 12 months of purchase.

🐓 Who’s Mama Red?

Hi, I’m Tameron and most people know me as Mama Red. I own and run Bella Mia Farmstead (and Bella Mia Botanicals), a small, one woman farm in rural Western New York.

I raise and breed chickens, tend my gardens, and live a homestead life alongside my dogs, cats, chickens, ducks, turkeys, and quail. For my boring day job, I’m a web developer and designer, which is why my little farm happens to have a pretty website.

Bella Mia Botanicals began in much the same way many good things do, through curiosity, a love of herbs, and a desire to create products with ingredients I felt good about using for myself and my family.

Like many others, I started paying closer attention to ingredient labels. The more I researched, the more surprised I became by how many products we use every day that contain long lists of ingredients I couldn't pronounce, didn't recognize, or simply didn't feel comfortable using anymore. That realization sparked a personal mission to replace as many of those products as possible with simpler, more natural alternatives made from ingredients I could identify, understand, and trust.

What started as a personal journey into herbs, homesteading, gardening, and natural living slowly grew into a collection of handcrafted products made with care, intention, and a healthy appreciation for the beauty of simple ingredients.

How long will a solid dish soap bar last?

Because our solid dish soap pucks are highly concentrated and contain zero water or liquid fillers, they are incredibly long-lasting! One 3.5oz bar can easily outperform 2 to 3 plastic bottles of traditional liquid dish soap, making it a powerful, budget friendly champion for your zero waste kitchen.

How do I make my solid dish soap puck last longer?

Solid kitchen soaps last the longest when allowed to dry out between dishwashing sessions. To get the maximum lifespan out of your puck, always store it on a draining soap dish, a porous soap saver pad, or on top of a dry countertop away from sink water. Never leave the bar sitting on or in a wet sink.

What is the shelf life of these dish bars?

Our natural dish soaps contain zero synthetic preservatives and are best enjoyed within 12 months of purchase. While the bright, garden fresh kitchen scents of Lemon, Rosemary, and Basil essential oils may naturally soften over time, the bar's heavy duty, grease cutting power will remain completely effective. Store unused bars in a cool, dark, and dry cabinet.

Can I use this solid dish soap as a personal body wash or face soap?

I do not recommend using the dish soap on your face or body. To make this bar an absolute powerhouse against stubborn grease, butter, and cooking oils, it is formulated with zero leftover oils (no superfatting). Is this dish soap safe to use if I am pregnant, nursing, or have sensitive hands?

Yes! However, because it is packed with highly concentrated, pure essential oils to combat stubborn food odors, we still recommend that anyone who is pregnant, nursing, or has severe skin sensitivities check the ingredient list and consult their healthcare provider if they have specific concerns.

Will this solid soap leave a film or residue on my dishes?

Not at all! Traditional body soaps leave a moisturizing film to soften skin, but our dish bar is engineered to do the exact opposite. It rinses away with water, stripping away grease and food particles completely to leave your glassware, silverware, and pots residue free.

Why does my dish soap puck look slightly different from the photo online?

Every single solid dish soap puck is handcrafted in small batches. Minor visual variations in color, texture, or fine surface patterns are completely normal. The unique puck that arrives at your kitchen sink is a one of a kind creation with its own beautiful personality!

If you're wondering why some of my product photos look more "real life" than magazine cover, there's a good reason for that. My photography skills are terrible. I'm great at digital design and a lot of other things, but photography, unfortunately is not one of them. Haha!

Bella Mia Botanicals is a very small business, and most product photos are taken by me right here at home between making products, feeding animals, gardening, chasing chickens, and trying to remember what I walked into the room for.

Professional photography is still on my "someday" list. For now, I do my best with the camera on my phone, questionable lighting, and a workroom that seems determined to make every photo look yellow and darker than it actually is. I can make some breathtaking photos in my graphics design software and even with AI but I don't want to alter my photos. I want to stay true to what they are.

The good news? What you see is the real product you'll receive, no stock photos, no heavily altered images, and no surprises when your package arrives. And I can assure you they all look way more beautiful in person than they do in my amateur photos.
